304-428-2333, provides information, referrals, crisis intervention, peer counseling, and emotional support.
SHELTER: In a supportive, home-like environment for battered victims and their children, this gives the resident an opportunity to review their situation, sort out their feelings, and be involved in active problem solving with assistance. We have a fifteen bed facility.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING: Is provided on a referral basis.
LEGAL ADVOCACY: Helping clients to identify their rights explore their legal options and assist them through the court system, if desired.
CASE MANAGEMENT: Providing support and resources to victims of domestic violence.
SUPPORT GROUP: Weekly group sessions for adults facilitated by a domsestic violence advocate to discuss issues of abuse and to gain emotional support. Non-shelter clients are required to call before being admitted to the support group. Child care is available.
THE “KIDS FIRST PROGRAM” IS A CHILD EXCHANGE AND MONITORED VISITATION CENTER
This separate location provides parents or guardians, who are going through a divorce or difficult situations, a place to exchange or visit their children in a child friendly and neutral environment. This program requires signed court orders. Call the shelter to check availability in your county.
Think of it like this: If you had to leave your home at 1:52 in the morning with a bag full of clothes and children in your arms, you would seek out shelter in the night. A haven that will welcome you with open arms. And ... we compassionately do!
CHARITY DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE - GIVING NOW IS BETTER THAN GIVING IN THE FUTURE
It may seem like a small amount now, but a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. Don’t wait until you’re super rich to give to charity. Your $100 now may have a larger impact on you now, but it also have a larger impact on the charity than if you waited 5 years to give that $100, when inflation knocks that value down to about $85.Sure, some portion of taxes go to helping those in need (welfare, disaster relief, etc.), but if we donate $100, we get a large portion of that back if we list it as tax deductible. Suddenly your $100 donation is only $65. The point is to actually give the money away, remember?
FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY, MAKE YOUR PHILANTHROPIC DONATIONS TODAY
The only time we have a right to seek help as a non-profit, is when we feel we have done the job we set out to do when the by-laws of the Center were filed. Since 1977 we have been doing the job with honor and dignity. The testimonials abound. The results heart warming. The devotion intense. Your donation will put a mother at ease, help a child sleep with out fear and, in some cases, protect a mans dignity.
Domestic Violence does not discriminate. It is an equal opportunity destroyer.
